Information to include
Cover letters may be included as a separate file when a journal manuscript is submitted to ScholarOne.
Authors often mention special circumstances or include some of the following:
- The title of the paper and its authors’ names.
- Notification of special qualifications or collaborations, such as, "We are a part of the Rice Partnership which is the only rice breeding program in our country."
- For a special collection manuscript, list the collection name.
- For the most recent annual meeting discount or if a teaching module, mention that special case.
- For invited papers, identify the community editor or EIC that made the invitation.
- If you have been offered page-charge waivers, identify the community editor or EIC that offered them and how many are expected.
- For supplemental files, state where those are stored or if they were uploaded to ScholarOne with the manuscript.

- There are no conflicts of interest to declare.
Example
Dear Editor:
I have submitted a manuscript for the special collection "Animal Housing and Ventilation" by authors J. Lang et al., titled “Simulation of airflow in animal housing with duct ventilation.” This is an invited paper requested by the PAFS community editor and was given up to eight additional pages waivered.
Neither the entire paper nor any part of its contents has been published or has been accepted elsewhere. The submission is original and is not being submitted to any other journal. We believe the paper may be of particular interest to the readers of your journal because this paper presents our research on optimized duct ventilation mode based on simulation of computational fluid dynamics (CFD). This article has been checked by a native tongue speaker with expertise in the field.
Thank you and best regards.
